Quality Control and Inspection Division
The Quality Control and Inspection Division (QCID) is responsible for providing building engineering services for the Government Ministries and SOEs. The main responsibilities and core function of the QCID cover the followings:
Structural analysis and engineering design services to develop and optimize building development designs for new building projects,
Structural integrity assessment of existing buildings to recommend solutions for sustaining and/or upgrading existing buildings,
Site investigations to confirm the condition and capacity of the ground subjected to development,
Technical advisor in the planning and implementation stages including the tender evaluation process for all building development projects for the Government.
In addition, QCID is also mandated under the Kiribati National Building Act (2006) to regulate all public building designs to ensure they comply with the requirements of the Building Code and to ensure that all construction works are carried out to acceptable standards of quality, workmanship, and safety.
