Scientific Departments
Virology: It undertakes the following tasks: Conducting basic and applied research with a focus on the molecular biology and immunology of many viral infections that cause tropical and transboundary diseases by isolating and/or determining the molecular characteristics of viruses. The Department also develops and applies new diagnostic methods for viral diseases.
Bacteriology: It undertakes the following tasks: Conducting basic and applied research with a focus on molecular biology and immunity to many bacterial diseases by isolating and identifying bacteria, studying their molecular properties and their resistance to antibiotics, and working on the existence of alternatives to these antibiotics. The Department also studies non-pathogenic bacteria and the possibility of using them to prevent diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria.
Parasitology and mycology: It undertakes the following tasks: Studying pathogenic parasites, focusing on their molecular characteristics, studying and classifying vectors of these parasites, and developing methods to control them.
