Thalassemia Laboratory & Dignostic Services
Brief Overview of Thalassemia Laboratory and Diagnostic Services
The Thalassemia Laboratory and Diagnostic Services, established in 1993, has been at the forefront of thalassemia prevention and diagnosis in the Maldives. A major milestone was achieved in 2005 with the introduction of DNA testing for thalassemia, making advanced molecular diagnosis available locally.
Today, the laboratory provides comprehensive diagnostic, counseling, and support services for individuals and families affected by thalassemia and other inherited blood disorders. Our services focus on early detection, accurate diagnosis, genetic counseling, and publicawareness, helping individuals make informed healthcare and family planning decisions while contributing to the prevention of thalassemia in the Maldives.
